Cllrs accepted an invitation from the developer of the proposed site, Fred Olsen Renewables, to attend a drop in session in Barningham Village Hall on November 18th 2025.

Three members of the Fred Olsen company, including the Project Manager and Project Director were in attendance and we were able to have a conversation with the Project Director.

The Council and a number of residents had drafted a number of questions, which effectively all fall into one of the categories listed below:

  • Landscape & Visual Impact
  • Impact on Wildlife
  • Impact on the Environment
  • Impact on Residents
  • Impact on Infrastructure
  • Archaelogical & Cultural Heritage Importance

As we suspected, very little new detail was forthcoming in the session. The intention of the developer is to hold public consultation meetings commencing March 2026, at which point greater details and clarity will be provided.

We will ensure that these consultation meetings are publicised effectively, to ensure that all interested residents can attend. It is also our intention to hold a resident meeting in Newsham Village hall, when more detail is disclosed. It is very likely the Developer would be prepared to attend such a meeting to respond to questions.

The Council has expressed the significant concerns of those local residents who have communicated with the Councitl to date, and have also subsequently confirmed these concerns in writing to the relevant Project Director at Fred Olsen Renewables.

Regarding project timelines, we are advised the surveys and consultation process will continue through to 2028 and it is unlikely any work will start until 2030 if approval is given – later if subsequently there is an appeals process.

Updates will appear here as and when any new information comes to light.
